VSA arts of Washington Congratulates Ellensburg, WA artist

LAUREL EBENAL

Laurel won the first place award for her digital photograph Faun,entered in

a juried exhibition of 15 award-winning emerging artists with disabilities.(Click on the Driven logo to see Laurel's winning photograph)

Laurel is currently a student at Central Washington University working toward a major in photography. Laurel is inspired by a fantasy world in habited by dreams and fairy tales. Her photographic work explores these whimsical inspirations and gives viewers a glimpse into her imaginative mind; "Dreams and fairy tales are what drive me to create my artworks. Without them, I wouldn't have the inspiration to keep on creating."

Laurel will receive her award at a Congressional reception on November 13, 2007!For the sixth year, VSA arts and Volkswagen of America, Inc., have partnered to recognize and showcase young artists with disabilities, ages 16–25, who are living in the United States. This collaboration supports these artists at a critical time when many are deciding whether to pursue the arts as a career.
